Two assists by Los Angeles Kings defenseman Randy Jones gives him 17 points in 32 games on the year.  It's really a shame that Jones is as terrible as he is defensively because he would hold some fantasy value if he were more consistent and could gain more ice-time.  Unfortunately Jones is soft, often makes poor passes that lead to turnovers, and isn't very good positionally - three detrimental areas that overshadow the positive things he is capable of doing offensively.

Marc Savard has a grade two concussion after the hit to the head he took from Matt Cooke.  He'll have to wait a few days before doctors can get a better understanding of how long he'll be out.

Terrible night for the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday night.  Not only did they manage just 11 shots on goal in a 6-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings, but they also lost star forward Rick Nash to a lower body injury.  Nash is rumoured to have already been nursing an injury, despite playing.  No word yet on how long he will be out.

Wonder what the over/under is on Kyle Beach making the Chicago Blackhawks next season.  The Hawks will be tight against the salary cap and the 6-3, 215 lb Beach is having a monster season with the WHL's Spokane Chiefs.  The hulking forward has 51 goals and 82 points in 65 games.

Vancouver Canucks top prospect Cody Hodgson is injured again.  This time it is a fractured toe that will keep him out of action until the OHL playoffs.  Hodgson fractured the toe while blocking a shot on February 12th against the Sudbury Wolves but played through the pain for 3 weeks.  Hodgson has looked very good since returning from a back injury that kept him out much of the season, scoring 8 goals and 20 points in 13 games for the Brampton Battalion.

Marty Turco stopped 49 of 52 shots against the Capitals on Monday night.  Turco stood on his head, which is a great sign for the Dallas Stars as they try to fight their way into the playoffs.  Turco and Kari Lehtonen will fight it out for playing time down the stretch and while Lehtonen figures to be the starter long-term, the hot hand is who will likely get the bulk of the time for the rest of this season.

Tuukka Rask (knee) is back and ready to go for the Bruins, which means the battle between the pipes between Rask and Tim Thomas is back on.  Give the edge to Thomas for now as he's been lights-out since Rask got hurt, but the Bruins won't hesitate to get Rask back in there if Thomas falters.

You know your team has depth when it voluntarily sits Tomas Fleischmann and Scott Walker on the same night.  Both were healthy scratches against the Dallas Stars.  It shouldn't come as a surprise that the 36-year old Walker was scratched as the Capitals will want to keep him energized and healthy for the playoffs but it might come as a surprise that Fleischmann had to sit.  Fleischmann has been playing very well for the Capitals but head coach Bruce Boudreau cites the Caps playing 4 games this week and Fleischmann's Olympic participation as reason enough to give him a rest.
