Kings looking to trade?

E-mail Print

The LA Kings have seen Alexander Frolov spurn them in order for a one-year stint on Broadway, and were the losers (or winners, depending on point of view) in the Ilya Kovalchuk deal - though there are still possibilities on this front, as remote as they may be.

altSo, there are rumours that a trade is in the works to bolster their roster and keep up with the rest of the Western Conference teams that were strenghtened this offseason.

The Kings did add Alexei Ponikarovsky, but his numbers were inflated in Toronto where he was given a tremendous amount of ice time, and his skills were exposed in Pittsburgh.  It is unlikely he can be as effective in the west as he was with the Maple Leafs.

There is a strong need for a scoring left-winger, but the rumours are swirling that LA is targetting soon-to-be ex-Leaf Tomas Kaberle.  Take it for what it's worth, more rumours about the Maple Leafs and Kaberle, but he has to end up somewhere and the Kings have the assets and cap room to make this deal work.
