The Penguins have the goaltending (on most nights), attended to their blue line more than replacing departed Sergei Gonchar, and are amongst the strongest in the league down the middle. What they are missing are talented wingers to play with those centres, and one of the more attractive, and potentially cheap wingers still out there is Maxim Afinogenov.
When he landed in Atlanta last season, Sabres fans warned of seeing him play great for short stretches and then disappear for longer stretches. Of course, he wasn't producing every night - who on the Thrashers was? - but he played every game, notching 61 points, tied for second best for a season in his career (although its worth mentioning that his other 61-point season was achieved in only 56 games in 2006-07).
Anyways, he proved himself again as an NHL player and could find a role (if he is willing to play for a little less than market value) in Pittsburgh. There have been rumblings that the Penguins are kicking the tires...
